A Little History

I was born and raised in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I was raised by two wonderful Christian parents, Jim and Jane Edmonds and I have one sibling, Andrew, who is two and a half years my junior. Church has been a big part of my life growing up and has helped develop me into the Christian that I am today. I have also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout which I have found has taught me many of the morals that I go by. I attended R.J. Reynolds High School and graduated in 2004. I am currently a student at Appalachian State University and I'm majoring in Electronic Media/Broadcasting and minoring in Computer Information Systems and plan to graduate in December of 2007.

I have been involved with music ever since I can remember. My mother is a pianist and my father plays guitar and bass, so it was my natural inclination to play some form of instrument. At the age of 12, I began playing drums in my youth praise band at my church and enjoyed playing more and more. In high school I was persuaded to audition for the elite chorus group, Renaissance, and became a member my sophomore year. We had the opportunity to perform in Carnegie Hall under the direction of Moses Hogan. I was also an original member of a men's a capella group that we started my sophomore year, called Octapella (originally named Varsity Singers).

I continued playing drums and one day my neighbor Cindy Johnson gave me a call. She has started her own ministry called Stage 2 Ministries where she travels full time to lead and sing/play in worship services and Christian events. I began playing with her at the age of 14 playing at local Christian book stores, then youth camps such as World Chagers, and then onto opening up for bands such as FFH and Jars of Clay. Cindy is an amazing speaker, and truly loves God with all of her heart. She's a great friend who I look up to greatly!

In high school my friends and I decided to start a band so we began working on some music. I along side David Mikush, Anthony Joseph, and Todd Thorpe formed the David Mikush Band and enjoyed the fame of our high school aged following. We packed out venues such as Ziggy's and the Garage, while also playing at the Millennium Center, Eddie's Attic and Salem College.
